Budget Committee on H.R. 3590 with Reid Substitute

by James Gelfand

Chart with the Budget Committee’s estimate of the score of the Reid bill after 10 years of full implementation. Interesting to note that because the bill pushed back implementation of the major provisions until 2014, the true cost of 10 years of implementation—$2.5 trillion. (as a PDF)

Thank you for being a TRUE VOICE for Small Business. I am shocked by some of the "business owners" post's here. Are they living on a different planet? How do they think we can possibly afford the proposed Health Care Reform (Reid Substitute to HR3590)? I am disgusted and tired of the Liberal Wacko's that obviously want a Bankrupt Country and a Socialist State! My advice to you who won't face reality is MOVE TO ANOTHER COUNTRY and let AMERICA BE FREE to prosper!

Love your ads about the health care legislation. It very appropriately shows in a short amount of time what we are losing by trying to pass this monstrous law. As a single mother who is permanently disabled and lives without insurance, I'd rather struggle from month to month than have the government take over my health care. I was a nurse for 30 years and saw the horrible results from the Clinton changes to health care. It not only made care deplorable, but it put the choice for care out of the hands of physicians. Thank you for your stand against the current health care bill. Let's enforce the existing laws. Let's find where the biggest problems are and address them!

Your ad is awesome and states the truth about what the current Healthcare Reform will do to small business, jobs and our future. Keep up the great work and don't let these government paid hacks that have responded in this blog sway your resolve.

I am disgusted by your ad attacking healthcare reform. How dare your organization display your blatant opposition to providing the help millions of Americans need & desire.

You used the image of a sleeping child presumably under attack by healthcare reform. Your ad is vile & beyond disgusting. I intend to call my own Chamber of Commerce tomorrow morning & complain loudly about your smelly ad. You are a gross organization.....stomach turning actually.

We do NOT appreciate & do NOT support your
so-called ads about Health Care legislation that is going to be passed into law asap! You should be ashamed of those ads, especially since your info is taken out of context--we are very tired of being dictated to by large corporations that earn millions of dollars annually & those who don't support small businesses; small businesses are the back-bone of this country, and not the money-grubbing large corporations!

Michelle

I am a small business owner and your analysis is appalling. You obviously only answer to the large corporations. You are a great detriment to independent business owners.

I am self-employed in health care. You are SO off-base with your ads. The current health care legislation is a good start to overhauling the mess we have in our system. The biggest problem in the legislation is handing insurance companies more unsuspecting patients and more money. The amount of money funneled to the insurance companies is one of the big reasons we are in this sorry state. Dealing with the compliance and financial side of health care, I know of which I speak.

Your ads are fear-mongering.

I agree with S A Powers. "Shame on you" is exactly the right reaction. Our healthcare situation is not only immoral - it is economically stupid. If many of the hired guns working in the healthcare "industry" were gainfully employed in real, value-added industries we would all be better off. The false fear gushing from your TV spot is despicable.

S A Powers

Shame on you for running ads opposing the current health care legislation. Shame on you for denying to our hard-working Americans the right to basic health care supplied by every other civilized democracy in the world. Shame on you for allowing decent Americans to die because they cannot afford health insurance and our health care system refuses to provide it otherwise. Shame on you for resorting to scare tactics to turn the American public from the most important piece of legislation proposed in years, which will benefit families and, in the long run, the American economy. Your opposition is short-sighted. Shame on you!
