A Congress Which Will Live in Infamy
by Brad Peck
Esquire gives out their Dubious Achievement Awards at the end of the year, but it appears that the U.S. House of Representatives has a lock on "worst piece of legislation ever." But which "worst" will walk away with the prize? Will it be health care?
"The more we inspect the House bill, the more it looks to be one of the worst pieces of legislation ever introduced in Congress." (Wall Street Journal)
or Waxman-Markey?
"The cap and trade bill is really the worst piece of legislation I've seen since I've been there." (Rep. Dan Boren)
Both are deeply flawed pieces of legislation that in the end will prove ineffective in addressing the very problems they purport to solve, but which one is truly the worst? While there is no obvious winner, the clear losers are the American people -- but there is still time. Contact Congress today and urge them to oppose irresponsible climate and health reform proposals.
