Bandwagon to Baton Rouge

by Ian Wagreich

The reprise of the VoteForBusiness Bandwagon completed its seven state tour with a fitting end in Baton Rouge this yesterday.  Dozens of students from Southern University's Baton Rouge campus met the bus on Main Street and helped cap off nearly 1387 miles of voter education over the last week with a herculean effort to get out the vote.

Armed with t-shirts and voter education leaflets, students and staff let residents know it was imperative to vote this election. Incumbent Sen. Mary Landrieu was fresh on voters minds. Chamber volunteers engaged Baton Rouge residents on energy independence and why it was good for America’s businesses.

The town welcomed the Chamber with great enthusiasm. Workers in the Third Street Promenade and on the trolley as well as businesses all along Main Street invited the VoteForBusiness team to give our take on the issues, and they let us know theirs.

We are heading home, have to get close to our polling places.  One week folks, get out there and vote.

If private business is so much better than government, why is government having to bail out private business from corporate greed, dishonesty, and complete lack of ethics and social responsibility?
