I was shell-shocked when I heard this earlier today. Speaking solely for US business groups, there have been dozens and dozens of trips to Geneva, Brussels, other key country capitals to push for an ambitious and comprehensive outcome to the Doha Round. These trips have been led by and participated in by groups including the Chamber, Coalition of Service Industries (CSI), National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC) to name a few. I alone have been to Geneva three times in the 9 months. Companies have been involved in many of these trips as well. Of course, this is just speaking for US business groups and not business groups from other countries who have led similar efforts.
Bottom Line: We have been working on Doha since the beginning and will continue supporting efforts to conclude a Round that will provide commercially meaningful new trade flows.
