Working For Business: Fran Townsend

by Tom Donohue

The U.S. Chamber gets a lot of press, some good, some bad.  Today, we have a good one, on the personnel page no less.  The National Journal offers an excellent profile of the U.S. Chamber’s latest hire, Fran Townsend, as one of my senior advisors and outside consultants.

Fresh off of almost four years serving as President George W. Bush’s Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Advisory, she’ll offer her expertise to various Chamber divisions including homeland security, emergency preparedness, and supply chain security, among others.

Fran has an incredible resume, including 13 years at the U.S. Department of Justice in various senior positions and a former Assistant Commandant for Intelligence at the Coast Guard, not to mention that she graduated cum laude with a B.A. in political science and B.S. in psychology from American University.  Her past positions and accolades speak volumes, but more importantly, Fran is a leader with the high level of character and integrity the Chamber needs to help drive us toward meeting the goals of our growth and prosperity agenda.

I welcome Fran to the Chamber and we all look forward to working with her.
