Stimulus and Manufacturing

by Ryan Robinson

I have just returned from the White House having had the opportunity to thank the President for signing the new stimulus bill.

My company is planning to purchase several new pieces of equipment in 2008 ranging from new forklifts to heavy machine tools, equipment we would not have been able to buy without the tax savings provided in the stimulus package.  The President was energetic and was interested to hear stories from real Americans about our plans to take advantage of the tax savings.

After the press came in, we had an unexpected private tour of the Oval Office.  The President spent close to 15 minutes talking about the history of the office and different pieces of art.  At the end we were able to each get a photo with the President standing right in front of his desk.  All in all, it was a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience.
