Stimulus and Growth
by Ray Pinard
I met with President Bush today at the White House along with eight other CEOs to discuss the advantages for business in the recently passed economic stimulus package. We were a diverse group ranging from meat processing, machining, and steel fabrication, to commercial printing and education.
The President opened the meeting by discussing how the economic package will impact American families and business, but he wanted to hear firsthand from us about our plans to take advantage of the Section 179 and bonus depreciation provisions.
At his request all of us described our investment plans and how the stimulus package impacts each of our businesses. I explained that 48HourPrint.com is purchasing a $2,000,000 offset sheet-fed press for our facility in Cleveland, resulting in $300,000 of bonus depreciation for 2008. The increased technological advantage from the new press will afford our company additional capacity and throughput, which are very necessary in meeting our customers’ demands in a 48 hour turnaround time.
